xAI has released an early beta of Grok Build, a terminal-based coding agent aimed at professional software engineers. The tool is available now to SuperGrok and X Premium Plus subscribers and installs via a single command.

The agent supports plan-review-approve workflows, letting users inspect and modify a proposed plan before any code changes are applied. It integrates with existing developer tooling — AGENTS.md, MCP servers, plugins, hooks, and skills are all picked up automatically from the repository.

For larger tasks, Grok Build can spin up specialised subagents running in parallel, with support for separate Git worktrees per agent. A headless mode (-p) enables use inside scripts and automations, alongside full ACP support for building custom bots and orchestration workflows.

xAI describes this as an early beta and is soliciting feedback.
