Anthropic has launched a connector allowing Claude users to query the Anthropic Economic Index directly within conversations, the company announced this week.
The Index tracks how AI is being used across the economy, data Anthropic says has already been used by researchers, journalists and policymakers. The new connector lets users ask questions such as which occupations use AI most, what tasks people are automating, or how usage patterns have shifted over the past year, with answers grounded directly in the underlying data.
Anthropic said the connector works in any conversation with any Claude model and requires no installation, accessible by enabling it via the connectors menu in claude.ai. Users can start with broad questions and drill into specifics, and can ask Claude to show the source data behind any answer.
The company noted that the Index reflects patterns in Claude usage rather than the labour market as a whole, and said Claude will point users back to the source data and its limitations. The full datasets remain freely available on Anthropic's website.
