About
Cohere builds large language models and an agentic AI platform for regulated industries and governments. Founded in Toronto in 2019, it lets organisations run its models across public and private clouds, on their own premises or in fully air-gapped settings, so they keep control of data and infrastructure. Customers include RBC, TD Bank, TKMS, RWS and the Aston Martin Aramco Formula One team. In October 2026 Cohere opened a Series E round targeting up to CAD $7 billion, and it has agreed to combine with Germany's Aleph Alpha.
How they use AI
Cohere trains its own foundation models and sells them directly and inside its products. The Command family handles text generation, tool use and multilingual analysis, Embed and Rerank power enterprise search and retrieval-augmented generation, and Parse and Transcribe turn documents and audio into usable data. North is its agentic platform, where staff use AI agents connected to company systems and data. Model Vault provides dedicated inference for customers that want an isolated deployment. Feedback from customer work on real tasks shapes the next generation of its general models.
