About

Braintrust sells an evals and observability platform that engineering and product teams use to monitor AI agents in production, find failure patterns and turn them into evals before each release. It stores trace data in Brainstore, its own database for AI workloads. Its customers include Notion, Replit, Cloudflare, Ramp, Dropbox, Coursera, Retool and Navan. ICONIQ led its US$80m Series B in February 2026.

How they use AI

Braintrust records traces from production AI systems, including long-running multi-step agents with tool calls and intermediate reasoning, and lets teams score them with evals. Topics clusters production traces with AI and sorts them into named groups by recurring pattern, using UMAP dimensionality reduction, HDBSCAN clustering and c-TF-IDF keyword extraction. Brainstore is a database built for AI trace data at scale. A CLI and an MCP server let developers and coding agents run evals and query traces from a terminal or an AI assistant.
