Shift Technology said on 27 August 2025 that it had recently delivered generative AI capabilities into existing Shift Claims Fraud Detection and Shift Claims Intake deployments for Tokio Marine & Nichido Fire Insurance Co., Ltd. The release centres on Gen AI-powered visual intelligence intended to improve the accuracy of image and document analysis and extraction from structured and unstructured data.
According to the company, claims professionals still base many decisions on documents and images supplied by policyholders and other parties, and reviewing that material has historically required substantial time. The announcement frames generative visual intelligence as a way to categorise documents and images more accurately and to extract the information handlers need — including for fraud patterns that are hard to spot by eye as synthetic media becomes more common.
Shift said it already supplied Tokio Marine with fraud detection and claims-processing optimisation using generative AI, machine learning and intelligent document processing. Tokio Marine is described as expecting the new visual-intelligence capability to support initiatives to prevent fraudulent claims and streamline the overall claims process. The release does not give dollar amounts, volume metrics or a specific go-live date beyond “recently delivered”, and it does not include a named Tokio Marine executive quote.
