ID.me has raised US$340 million in financing combining Series E equity and credit to combat AI-driven fraud and expand secure digital identity, the company said on 1 September 2025. Ribbit Capital led per company materials; secondary coverage has reported a valuation above US$2 billion.

Leadership commentary said: "Fraud is evolving at the speed of AI—and so are we" The company also said: "Secure identity is foundational to AI ecosystems that will depend on memory, context, and authentication, and ID.me is leading the charge. This funding strengthens our ability to expand secure digital access, protect privacy, and innovate faster to stay ahead of criminal networks." ID.me's platform spans government and consumer verification, with Portable Identity wallet messaging part of the public product story. Headquarters remains in McLean, Virginia, with LinkedIn headcount in the 1,001–5,000 band.

Large identity platforms sit at the centre of public-benefit and private-sector login journeys; AI-driven document and selfie attacks raise the bar for liveness, document forensics and reusable credentials. Exact split between equity and credit facilities should be confirmed from the full release before modelling the balance sheet.

Enterprises and agencies using ID.me will watch how the capital funds fraud R&D versus network expansion — and whether Portable Identity becomes a durable standard or another wallet silo.
