About

Databricks is a data and AI company founded in 2013 by the creators of Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow and Unity Catalog. Its unified Data + AI Platform, built on the lakehouse architecture, lets teams store, govern and analyse data and build AI applications in one place. More than 20,000 organisations use it, among them adidas, AT&T, Bayer, Block, Mastercard, Rivian and Unilever, and over 60% of the Fortune 500. Databricks is headquartered in San Francisco with more than 30 offices around the world. In February 2026 it raised about US$5bn of equity at a US$134bn valuation as part of its Series L.

How they use AI

Databricks puts agent building, AI assistants and data governance on one platform. Agent Bricks is its tool for building AI agents on company data. Genie is a conversational AI assistant that lets any employee ask questions of their data in plain language, and Lakebase is a serverless Postgres database for operational apps and AI agents. Its AI products passed a US$1.4bn revenue run-rate in late 2025, and the February 2026 funding is earmarked mainly for Lakebase and Genie, plus AI research.
