About
Bottomline has worked on business payments since 1989. It sells payments automation, a business payments network, payments connectivity, cash management, and fraud and compliance software to banks, financial institutions and businesses in 92 countries, and moves more than US$16 trillion in payments a year. Banks use its digital banking, B2B payments and cash management products, and companies use Paymode, its business payments network. Affiliates of Thoma Bravo Fund XV took the company private on 13 May 2022, and Craig Saks has been chief executive since the deal closed.
How they use AI
Bottomline's CFO Suite, launched on 11 June 2026, runs on the BEA Agentic Platform, a finance-first AI orchestration engine that works inside treasury, AP, AR and payments workflows without replacing existing systems, and keeps auditability, explainability and human oversight on each result. For banks, Payments Fraud Defense combines behavioural analytics, interdiction, analytics tuning and session replay across rails such as ACH, FedWire, RTP, FedNow, Swift and SEPA, and is built to meet the Nacha 2026 fraud monitoring rules. Bottomline's fraud products use machine learning and AI alongside multi-layered security.
