Workday Adaptive Planning's 2025R2 What's New documentation lists production availability of Machine Learning Predictive Forecaster enhancements on 20 September 2025, after a preview window from 16 August 2025.
The release auto-populates key forecast fields by default when users create or edit forecasts, aiming to reduce manual setup for less experienced planners. When a forecast is first created, Workday said the system can auto-fill forecast version, accuracy metric, actuals and plan versions, and seasonality autodetection; entering a sheet value can also populate forecast and actuals period ranges plus levels and dimensions. It adds an ARIMA algorithm option so forecasts can account for data patterns and unusual events, and a feature-impact chart that shows how attached levers and regressors influence forecast output.
The documentation positions the work as enterprise ML forecasting inside Adaptive Planning rather than a separate analytics tool. Together with Adaptive Decision Intelligence and the Illuminate Planning Agent, the forecaster forms a buyer-useful Adaptive Planning AI cluster: governed scenarios, agent-assisted analysis and explainable ML forecasts in the planning system of record. Mechanism details are taken from Workday's product documentation; AI-360 has not independently benchmarked forecast accuracy.
