Wisedocs has closed an oversubscribed CAD 12.7 million (USD 9.5 million) Series A led by Information Venture Partners, the company said on 30 January 2024. Thomson Reuters Ventures and ManchesterStory participated, following a CAD 4.1 million seed in 2022, as the firm pushed AI medical-record review for insurance claims.

Chief executive Connor Atchison framed the raise around automating siloed claims medical-record workflows that slow adjusters and legal teams. Wisedocs said the customer base had more than doubled and that a US headquarters had opened in Florida. LinkedIn headcount around later periods sat near 132 in the 51–200 band.

Medical-record summarisation is high-stakes: missed comorbidities or timeline errors can distort reserves and litigation strategy. Buyers should demand clinician-reviewed accuracy studies on their own document mix, not only vendor demos.

The investor mix — information services plus insurance-focused venture — fits a product that sits between claims ops and legal review rather than pure underwriting AI.

Figures and customer claims in this piece are those stated by the company or acquirer in the cited materials.

AI-360 has not independently audited operating metrics named in the announcement.
