Protecht announced Cognita on 7 September 2025, describing it as an embedded AI assistant purpose-built for governance, risk and compliance rather than a generic chatbot added to a GRC suite. The company said Cognita will ship inside the November 2025 Protecht ERM release, with early demonstrations offered from the Gartner Enterprise Risk, Audit and Compliance Conference period through October.
In the PR Newswire release, Protecht said Cognita guides users with contextual prompts, cuts manual administration, improves data quality and reporting, and keeps outputs transparent and auditable. Damien Stevens, chief marketing and product officer, said: "With Cognita, we're making AI practical and trustworthy for risk leaders and frontline staff alike. It guides users step-by-step, strengthens accountability, and turns risk data into a strategic advantage – all without sacrificing governance or control."
Chief executive Jason Phillips said AI in GRC "should never be a black box," and that Cognita keeps every suggestion "transparent, explainable, and accountable." Protecht framed the design as human-in-the-loop, with role-based permissions inside Protecht ERM so recommendations stay reviewable by auditors and risk owners.
The announcement did not name early Cognita customers or publish priced SKUs. Protecht tied availability to the November 2025 Protecht ERM release and invited customers, partners and conference attendees to book demonstrations in the September–October window ahead of that drop.
