NVIDIA and Foxconn Hon Hai Technology Group announced a deepened partnership with the Taiwan government to build an AI factory supercomputer delivering NVIDIA Blackwell infrastructure to researchers, startups and industries. Foxconn will provide AI infrastructure through its subsidiary Big Innovation Company as an NVIDIA Cloud Partner, featuring 10,000 NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs to significantly expand AI computing availability for Taiwan researchers and enterprises.
The Taiwan National Science and Technology Council will utilise the Big Innovation Company supercomputer to provide AI cloud computing resources to Taiwan's technology ecosystem, accelerating AI development and adoption across sectors. TSMC researchers plan to leverage the system to advance research and development with orders-of-magnitude faster performance compared to previous-generation systems.
Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, stated that "AI has ignited a new industrial revolution — science and industry will be transformed. We are delighted to partner with Foxconn and Taiwan to help build Taiwan's AI infrastructure, and to support TSMC and other leading companies to advance innovation in the age of AI and robotics."
Young Liu, chairman and CEO of Foxconn, emphasised that "Foxconn builds technology that underpins modern life, and now, we're building computing infrastructure to scale the next generation of breakthroughs across Taiwan. By building this AI factory with NVIDIA and TSMC, we are laying the groundwork to connect people in Taiwan as well as government organisations and enterprises such as TSMC to accelerate innovation and empower industries."
Dr. C.C. Wei, chairman and CEO of TSMC, noted that "at TSMC, innovation lies at the heart of everything we do. By harnessing advanced AI infrastructure, we empower our researchers to accelerate breakthroughs in semiconductor technology, enabling next-generation solutions for our customers and the world."
Minister Wu Cheng-Wen of the National Science and Technology Council outlined the vision: "Our plan is to create an AI-focused industrial ecosystem in southern Taiwan. We are focused on investing in innovative research, developing a strong AI industry and encouraging the everyday use of AI tools. Our ultimate goal is to create a smart AI island filled with smart cities."
The Big Innovation Cloud AI factory will feature NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra systems, including NVIDIA GB300 NVL72 rack-scale solutions with NVIDIA NVLink, NVIDIA Quantum InfiniBand and NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking. Big Innovation Cloud plans to participate in the NVIDIA DGX Cloud Lepton marketplace, providing enterprises from startups to industry leaders with advanced GPU resource access.
The AI factory will accelerate automation and efficiency across Foxconn's three core pillars: smart cities, electric vehicles and manufacturing. Applications include optimising connected transportation systems, enabling advanced driver-assistance systems, and implementing AI-driven analytics and digital twin technologies for streamlined operations.
The 10,000-GPU supercomputer represents a major infrastructure investment positioning Taiwan as a regional AI development hub while strengthening partnerships between global technology leaders. The collaboration demonstrates how government-industry partnerships can accelerate national AI capabilities while supporting semiconductor industry research and development requirements.
