Fingerprint has added Smart Signals and platform enhancements to detect malicious bots and AI agents while preserving legitimate automation, according to a 15 July 2025 Business Wire release. Named capabilities include a Bot Detection Smart Signal, Virtual Machine Detection, Residential Proxy Detection and request filtering for known AI user agents.

The release cited industry figures putting bots at more than half of internet traffic with roughly 30% malicious, and referenced Gartner commentary on fully autonomous AI agents by 2036. Chief executive and co-founder Dan Pinto framed AI agents as both a major risk and among the fastest-evolving parts of the threat landscape.

Fingerprint positioned the features for agentic commerce and payment-fraud protection without blanket-blocking beneficial automation. Availability was described as immediate for existing Fingerprint implementations.

Payment and account-security teams will want false-positive rates on legitimate RPA and partner agents before flipping Smart Signals to hard blocks in production.

Figures and customer claims in this piece are those stated by the company or acquirer in the cited materials.

AI-360 has not independently audited operating metrics named in the announcement.

Product roadmaps and close timelines remain subject to the usual commercial and regulatory conditions.
