BentoML announced it was joining Modular as a strategic product acquisition, with open-source BentoML remaining Apache 2.0 and customer systems continuing without disruption, the company said on 10 February 2026.
Inference tooling vendors are consolidating into fuller stack platforms as enterprises standardise model serving. Buyers still need licence clarity, BYOC options and a migration path if roadmaps converge.
BentoML remains the directory brand face; Modular is the parent after the product acquisition and is not added as a separate directory row this wave. Modular materials cited more than 10,000 organisations including 50-plus Fortune 500 users.
ML platform teams should demand reproducible serving benchmarks on their models — before treating any acquisition as a completed inference strategy.
