AWS has expanded its AI Competency program, formerly the Generative AI Competency, introducing its largest specialization release to date. The update includes 60 validated partners across three new Agentic AI categories: Agentic AI Tools, Agentic AI Applications, and Agentic AI Consulting Services. The expanded framework is designed to help enterprise customers identify AWS Partners with demonstrated capabilities in building and operationalizing autonomous AI systems that can perceive, reason, and act with limited human intervention.
To support partners applying for these designations, AWS has also introduced an AI agent within AWS Partner Central. The tool provides immediate feedback on specialization submissions, reducing evaluation timelines and simplifying the path to competency approval.
As enterprises shift from experimentation to deploying production-grade autonomous systems, they increasingly require partners with proven experience in developing AI agents capable of orchestrating multi-step workflows, maintaining context, and integrating across diverse environments. The new Agentic AI categories recognize partners that can deliver advanced solutions using services such as Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, Strands Agents, and Amazon SageMaker AI, while upholding established practices in responsible AI development, governance, and monitoring.
Partners achieving these specializations undergo rigorous technical assessments and must demonstrate customer success aligned with AWS standards for security, reliability, and operational excellence. Organizations adopting autonomous AI can use these categories to identify partners equipped to support large-scale, enterprise-ready deployments that deliver measurable business outcomes.
