About
Anyscale is a San Francisco company founded in 2019 by the creators of Ray, the open-source framework for running Python and AI workloads across thousands of nodes, which came out of UC Berkeley's RISELab. The Anyscale Platform is a managed service for running Ray in production for data processing, model training, post-training and inference, with enterprise controls such as SSO, SCIM and audit logs. Users include Notion, Geotab, Mirakl and Physical Intelligence. Keerti Melkote is chief executive and co-founder Ion Stoica is executive chairman. AI cloud provider Nscale signed an agreement on 30 July 2026 to acquire Anyscale, expected to close in the second half of 2026.
How they use AI
Anyscale builds the compute layer AI teams run on. Ray schedules work across CPUs and GPUs from a laptop to large clusters, and its libraries Ray Data, Ray Train and Ray Serve cover data preparation, distributed training and model serving. Teams use it to run LLM inference with engines such as vLLM and SGLang, and post-training and reinforcement learning with frameworks like SkyRL and veRL. The Anyscale Platform adds managed clusters, governance and multi-team controls on top of Ray.
