ServiceNow and OpenAI have [expanded their partnership](https://newsroom.servicenow.com/press-releases/details/2026/ServiceNow-and-OpenAI-accelerate-enterprise-AI-from-models-and-operations-to-cybersecurity-and-agentic-development/default.aspx?ref=ai-360.online) across enterprise workflows, cybersecurity and agent development. ServiceNow says the work will connect OpenAI models and agents with its workflow platform, while bringing ServiceNow actions into ChatGPT and Codex. The company also launched a Control Tower Alliance with cloud, security, identity and model providers.

The proposition is attractive because it joins reasoning to an operating system for approvals, records and work. The risk is that a fluent interaction can hide several control transitions: the user asks, a model interprets, an agent chooses a tool, a connector reaches a system and a workflow changes a record. Each transition needs identity, purpose, authority, policy and evidence.

The partners have announced product direction and integration, not a universal control guarantee. Customers should run one consequential workflow end to end and confirm which system is authoritative at every step, where approvals occur, how changes are versioned and how an action can be reversed. A control tower is useful only if it sees the whole chain and cannot be bypassed by an alternative connector.
