# Microsoft launches Discovery agentic AI platform for R&D

[Microsoft](https://azure.microsoft.com/?ref=ai-360.online) has launched [Microsoft](https://www.ai-360.online/microsoft/) Discovery, an enterprise agentic AI platform for research and development, at its Build 2025 conference, [Microsoft said on 19 May 2025](https://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/transforming-rd-with-agentic-ai-introducing-microsoft-discovery/?ref=ai-360.online).

The platform lets researchers work with a team of specialised AI agents and a graph-based knowledge engine across the discovery process, from knowledge reasoning and forming hypotheses to simulation and iterative learning.

Built on Azure, it is designed to be extensible, so researchers can bring their own models, tools and datasets as well as partner and open-source solutions.

Microsoft said its own researchers used the AI models and high-performance computing simulation tools in Discovery to find a prototype coolant for immersion cooling in datacentres in about 200 hours, a process that would otherwise have taken months or years.

The company said it is working with customers in chemistry and materials, silicon design, energy, manufacturing and pharma, and with partners building on the platform.
