[Smarsh](https://www.smarsh.com/?ref=ai-360.online) has added a Model Context Protocol server, a conversational AI layer called AskSmarsh AI and new agents to its Communications Intelligence Platform for regulated firms, [the company said on 16 September 2026](https://www.smarsh.com/press-release/smarsh-turns-compliance-into-an-enterprise-wide-advantage-with-new-mcp-server-and-asksmarsh-ai?ref=ai-360.online).

The Smarsh MCP Server connects customers' existing AI tools to Smarsh communications data so compliance teams can query the archive and trigger workflows without exporting data. Smarsh said every interaction is subject to the same role-based access controls, audit logging and chain-of-custody requirements already in place.

AskSmarsh AI is a natural-language entry point for searching, investigating, reporting on and exporting communications data, backed by Search, Reporting and Export Agents. New agents include MySearch for employee self-service access to their own archived communications, deeper Discovery research, and three new non-financial misconduct models covering abusive and discriminatory language, sexual harassment and intent to resign.

“Customers will be able to use AskSmarsh AI to interact with their communications data conversationally, build on top of us, or bring governed Smarsh intelligence into the tools they already use,” said Kamesh Tumsi, Chief Product Officer at Smarsh.

Smarsh also added capture integrations with Claude Enterprise, Amazon Bedrock and Google Workspace.
