# Appian adds MCP and spec-driven development to its AI process platform

[Appian](https://appian.com/?ref=ai-360.online) has announced enhancements to the Appian Platform, including AI-assisted spec-driven development and Model Context Protocol (MCP) integration for agents, [the company said on 28 April 2026](https://appian.com/about/explore/press-releases/2026/appian-advances-ai-in-process-to-deliver-enterprise-outcomes-at-scale?ref=ai-360.online).

Through MCP, [Appian](https://www.ai-360.online/appian/) agents will be able to connect securely with external enterprise systems, and third-party AI agents will get access to Appian tools such as its data fabric, which provides unified read-write access to enterprise data.

Appian is also adding agent learning: users can track agent performance and apply an agent’s memory across processes to improve decisions.

Global Excel Management, a healthcare risk management provider, uses Appian to rework claims processes with AI. “With Appian, our processes will be unified,” said Pascal Tanguay, SVP, Global Technology Services, Global Excel Management.

Appian’s argument is that anchoring AI inside process models gives the structure, reliability and control needed to run agents at scale.
