# Anthropic merges Claude Cowork and chat into one Claude and adds Docs and Slides

[Anthropic](https://www.anthropic.com/?ref=ai-360.online) is merging Claude Cowork and chat into a single Claude, so users no longer choose where a task goes and Claude can keep working after they close their laptop, [the company said on 16 September 2026](https://claude.com/blog/cowork-is-now-claude?ref=ai-360.online).

The change is rolling out on Pro, Max and Ultra plans over the next few weeks, with more plans to follow. Claude Docs and Claude Slides are new, and Claude Design now works inside conversations. Users can edit directly, present from Claude, or download as PowerPoint or PDF. All three are in beta on paid plans, and Enterprise admins choose when to turn them on.

[Anthropic](https://www.ai-360.online/anthropic/) said it built Cowork as a separate place for bigger work and Design for visual work, but users found deciding where a task belonged frustrating, and work started in one did not carry into the other. Claude now works out what a task needs, using the context, skills and connectors a user already has.

“So we stopped making you choose,” the company said.
