Anthropic has introduced the analysis tool, a new built-in feature for Claude.ai that enables the AI assistant to write and run JavaScript code for data processing, analysis, and real-time insights generation.

The feature, now available in preview to all Claude.ai users, functions as a built-in code sandbox where Claude can perform complex math, analyse data, and iterate on different ideas before sharing an answer. This enhancement, which allows Claude to process information and run code, delivers more accurate answers—building upon Claude 3.5 Sonnet's coding and data skills.

While Claude could always write code, it can now run that code within Claude.ai to support all types of analysis tasks. The tool particularly excels at analysing and visualising data from CSV files, working more like a real data analyst by systematically processing data—cleaning, exploring, and analysing it step-by-step until reaching the correct result.

The analysis tool can expand capabilities across various teams. Marketing teams can upload customer interactions across the full funnel to surface opportunities for improving conversions. Sales teams can upload global sales data for country-specific performance analysis. Product managers can use customer engagement data to inform sprint planning and development priorities. Engineers can analyse server performance logs to identify areas for better resource utilisation, while finance teams can create financial dashboards from monthly data to convey key trends and inform decision making.

Users can access the new capability by turning on the analysis tool feature preview in Claude.ai. To manage all feature previews, users can click on their name in the bottom left corner.
