# AI or Not raises US$5m seed led by Foundation Capital

[AI or Not](https://www.aiornot.com/?ref=ai-360.online) raised US$5 million in seed funding led by Foundation Capital, with GTMFund, Plug and Play and strategic angels participating, according to [GamesBeat](https://gamesbeat.com/ai-or-not-raises-5m-to-stop-ai-fraud-deepfakes-and-misinformation/?ref=ai-360.online) on 17 January 2025.

The San Francisco detection startup said the round would fund more sophisticated tools to identify AI-generated images, audio, video and deepfakes as generative threats evolve. At announcement GamesBeat reported about 250,000 users and a team of seven, and cited company-supplied context that a large share of corporate finance professionals already view AI scams as an existential threat. Foundation Capital partner Zach Noorani said: "In countless ways, we rely on our ability to see and hear to verify authenticity. With the advent of generative AI models, now we can no longer be so sure. AI or Not's unique approach to AI detection solves this emerging problem. We're excited to support their mission of protecting people, companies, governments, and assets broadly from the risks posed by generative AI."

Anatoly Kvitnisky, CEO of AI or Not, said: "This funding allows us to continue our mission of creating a safer digital world by giving users the ability to detect and stop AI-driven fraud and misinformation before it causes harm."
